HOME INSPECTION PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Atlanta’s Home Inspectors Business School offers a five week training course with four hour classes being conducted twice a week. Five actual home inspections will be performed on homes and students have the opportunity to learn and ask questions as the inspections are performed. Emphasis on understanding and using the ICC code book in detail is leaned heavily on throughout the course. The process of marketing one’s business to give the student a cutting edge in the industry is explained and taught.


1) A comprehensive training of the exterior of the home and what to look for on the exterior of the home. This is to include numerous types of sidings placed on the exterior of a dwelling


2) A workable knowledge of the foundation of a home to include footings, monolithic concrete walls and cinder block walls.

3) A complete and thorough knowledge of the plumbing system to the home including the working knowledge of a septic system and the type of fresh water supply and drain plumbing in the dwelling. A complete knowledge of drain, waste and vent piping will be explained

4) An intense overview of the framing components of the structure. This is to include areas from the sill plate to the roof construction and roof decking

5) A working and complete understanding of the electrical system of a home. One will understand the types of wire including service entrance, the operation of the meter pan and the panel board. Detail is explained in the operation of GFCI’s and arc fault breakers

6) An exceptional working knowledge of the furnace/air conditioning heating and cooling unit and how the integrated units operate in conjunction with each other. This is to include high efficiency units
